The Wine

50% of the grapes are dried on mats, the other 50% were late harvest; 8 months in barriques of 2nd use; Alcoholic fermentation in French barriques with indigenous yeasts and without temperature control.

Losna is the Etruscan goddess of moon and tides. Poggio Rosso translates to ‘Red Hill.’ The shell image is from Etruscan pottery found in the area of Populonia.

The People

The Monelli family owns Tenuta Poggio Rosso, a winery they revitalized in the area where their peasant ancestors lived. This region is expressed through the flavor of the sea, the minerality of the soil and the elegance obtained within the vineyards.
