The Wine

This wine spends 12 months in barriques of 1st and 2nd use then another 12 months further bottle aging. This Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the Tuscan Coast Terroir and expresses it expertly.

Velthune has an Etruscan origin and alludes to the divinity representing the changing seasons and the arrival of the maturation of the fruit. Poggio Rosso translates to ‘Red Hill.’ The shell image is from Etruscan pottery found in the area of Populonia.

The People

The Monelli family owns Tenuta Poggio Rosso, a winery they revitalized in the area where their peasant ancestors lived. This region is expressed through the flavor of the sea, the minerality of the soil and the elegance obtained within the vineyards.
